Your Ideal Life Is Around The Corner

When you were young, you had an idea about what you wanted to be when you grew up.
The most common answers are, sportsperson, ballerina, police officer, fire fighter or to turn into your favourite animal.
Looking back, of course it was an over-simplistic vision for your life yet there was something magical about it.
Then you grew up a bit and if primary school didn’t knockout the image you were holding for your future, there was still high school and university to finish the job.
There was homework, assignments, family life, social life, working part or full time, going to gym and finally planning a holiday to escape and rest from everything.
You were so busy that you forgot where you were going and you ended up doing what was easiest or made the most sense.
Does this sound like you?
There’s nothing wrong with any of the decisions that you’ve made to get to wherever you are right now.
Perhaps you feel that some subtle shifts need to be made, or potentially some bigger changes to get your ideal life back on track.
A leader has the vision and conviction that a dream can be achieved. He inspires the power and energy to get it done.” – Ralph Nader

There’s more than one way to skin a cat

There’s more than one way to start working towards your ideal life but the best place to start is by creating a vision.
Vision: the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom. Or a mental image of what the future will or could look like.
This goes back to the saying of starting with the end in mind but maybe you have never thought about applying this to your whole life.
All the great leaders of the present, past and future start out with nothing but a vision and the belief that it can be achieved.
It doesn’t matter if you’re not going to be the leader of a big company or country, you can become a better leader in your own life, no matter the scale.
You can’t lead anyone else until you can lead yourself.
Therefore, idea behind creating a vision is first; think about what you want your life to look like. Second; identify areas that don’t match your vision, third; take action to bridge the gap and forth; believe that it’s possible.
The focus of this blog post is identifying what your vision is, what it looks like in as much detail as possible.
The other parts will be detailed in future posts.

Create a vision for your future

Creating a vision is a really easy process, unless you have no idea what you want.
This is common because often we don’t give ourselves permission to dream about our ideal, 10 out of 10 life of our dreams.
Also, a vision is different to setting goals, you can set goals within your vision but your vision is all encompassing while goals will be more specific.
Think about every single thing you want in life down to the brand of coffee your husband or wife brings you in bed every morning.
Maybe you’re not a coffee drinker but you get the point.
Here are some ideas to help you contemplate your vision:
  • Where do you want to live? Country / city / house / apartment – get detailed
  • How do you want to spend your time? Friends / shopping / cocktails / beach / working a job you love
  • What hobbies would you take up? Surfing / sewing / gardening / cooking / yoga / musical instruments
  • Who would be in your life? What kind of people do you want in your future?
  • If you could do anything and get paid for it, what would you do?
  • How do you want to feel? Fulfilled / happy / peaceful / productive / rested
Grab a pen or pencil or your laptop and write it all out. Don’t hold back!

Have fun with it

Let your imagination go wild in the process.
You will find that the more time you spend and the more details you get, the better it is.
Before you get started, give yourself permission to be free in this process.
Your vision can change from day to day but after you review it multiple times you will find some consistency.
Don’t wait for my next post to start bridging the gap, you can take action right now towards making your ideal life a reality.
Happy dreaming!
Peace,
Adam
